Working with computers, internet safety, creating and using own email, and creating an online resume were taught to four UPre women at the end of June at Deutsche Telekom Services Europe Slovakia, a partner of the UPre Women programme.

In the first part of the training, Anna, Olga, Simona, and Timea learned how to behave safely on the internet, what to post and what not to post, what messages/emails to respond to, how to verify email addresses if they are asked to provide personal information, how to create a strong password, etc.

The second part covered creating an email address and making an online resume. For most of them, this was their first ever experience of working on a computer, as they had previously dictated their details to another person who worked with the computer.

The third block of the training simulated a job interview, which was conducted by female employees from the company’s HR department. The aim was to prepare the women for a real interview and to make them understand how to behave in such a job interview (facial expressions, gestures, remembering to turn off the ringing tone on the phone and what to do if we have forgotten to turn it off and the phone rings…), what information it is appropriate to give, which information it is better not to give, etc.

During the break, the participants had a tour of the DTSE premises in Košice and a professional photo shoot, thanks to which the women got photos suitable for their CVs.

"The women were very positive about the experience. Most of the training takes place in community centres and now they visited the modern and very nice premises of DTSE, they were given visitor cards at the beginning, there was a computer waiting for each of them in the room and they experienced a professional and pleasant training. Creating a CV and giving all the necessary information was not at all easy for them, but once again they moved somewhere and found another motivation in life."

"Part of our CSR (Corporate Social Responsibility) strategy is to support projects focused on inclusion and diversity, including the UPRe women from the Carpathian Foundation. We held a workshop in our Košice office that provided them with basic digital skills and supported their readiness for the job market. This initiative reinforces our values of inclusion and development for all community members in the Košice region."
