In May 2022, training of UPre Women mentors took place in Dobšiná and Veľký Krtíš. Mentors learned not only what the mentoring programme entails, but also how to build a relationship with their mentees without losing professionalism and how to deal with established work stereotypes.

Experienced mentors will be available to Roma women during the UPre Women programme. Women, who will listen to them, talk to them, and give them advice.

"Any experienced woman willing to pass on her experience to her mentee and guide her through the world of working people can be a mentor in our programme. By experienced, however, we do not mean professional knowledge and skills, but experience with the work, the work environment, the duties, etc."

Before the mentors start meeting their mentees, they have undergone training. In May 2022, we organized training in Dobšiná and Veľký Krtíš. It was attended by 10 women (Roma and non-Roma) and under the guidance of experienced lecturer Monika Bosná, they learned not only what the mentoring programme entails, but also how to build a relationship with their mentee and not lose professionalism and how to deal with established work stereotypes. It is important to encourage Roma women to take the initiative themselves. This was best summed up by training participant Júlia:

"A mentor is like a shadow. She always walks two steps behind her mentee."
